What is the composition and turnover of our program staff?

staff-composition-turnover.png

ABC Head Start* wanted to showcase to stakeholders how many staff members are bilingual and how many staff members are current or former parents. They also wanted to inform stakeholders of turnover rates among staff. ABC Head Start has a relatively small staff, so the information was easy to collect from their personnel data. They decided to display the information in a bar graph in their monthly report that is reviewed by Policy Council and the Board of Education.

(*ABC Head Start is a generic name we use in the Playbook when a program does not wish to be identified.)

Analysis

ABC Head Start did a simple personnel inventory, counting up the number of staff or vacant positions in each category. They typed this inform into a spreadsheet on Google drive that is automatically linked to their monthly report, allowing changes to be automatically reflected in their monthly report.

Result

ABC Head Start used this graph to tell their story to stakeholders more effectively. They are part of a school district and their program staff is far more representative of the population served than the school district as a whole. ABC Head Start created and shared this graph in order to help the school administration take steps to improve their staff representation.
